Introduction
The calendars below describe the "recreational releases" tentatively scheduled for the Russell Fork River below Flannagan Dam in 2014. Note that by passing your cursor over the colored calendar cells the release information will appear in a pop-up text window. Scheduled releases occur the first four full weekends of October; unscheduled releases occur after rain year round. For current levels, consult the boatingbeta MyFlows page. The source of the information reproduced in the calendar below is U.S. Army Huntington District Corps of Engineers Whitewater Release Page. The Russell Fork Rendezvous & Lord of the Fork Race is generally held the last weekend of releases. Check Steve Ruth's Russell Fork Info page for this year's Rendezvous and Race dates.
Gage Information
The release levels listed below are the target levels for the whitewater runs; the actual releases are approximately 300 cfs less to accomodate the natural flow from the Russell Fork (the water is actually released into the Pound River, a tributary to the Russell Fork).
Notes
Water is released from the dam from from 9:30am to 3:30pm. The water takes about an hour to reach the put-in for the Upper Russell Fork at Bartlick Bridge and about about 2.5 hours to reach the put-in for the Russell Fork Gorge at Garden Hole.
